Amazing, affordable resource. I especially like Susanna Potter's approach. She is professional, empathic, practical, skilled, friendly, and organized. I like how she starts with a behavior card, and ends each session with a homework assignment. The experience was insightful and meaningful.- Rebecca
Grouport is my favorite virtual DBT platform. The program has been very insightful and a beneficial opportunity that I don't think I could find anywhere else. Susana is a wonderful facilitator and educator who makes learning DBT skills feel like an adventure rather than a chore. What does the curriculum help with?
The curriculum will help you learn strategic new skills to replace behaviors and emotions that are causing friction in your daily life and relationships. It will help you regulate your emotions better, manage distress more effectively, become more mindful, and engage more healthily in relationships of all kinds. The program will work its way up from the principles behind DBT, and progress further to dive deeper into the methodology and practical applications for more advanced skill development that can be utilized in your daily life.
What are best practices to maximize the benefit of the program?
The program is meant to be done sequentially. So you should go in order starting from the first session onward. Second, you shouldn't just skim through a video and then progress to a second video. You should really watch and internalize the full video, then actually do the homework assignment in that specific week, and then actually read the full manual material and practice the tips and exercises expressed in the reading material. Speed isn't the answer, but rather taking the time to really thoroughly digest and practice each specific session and its associated materials will enable you to reap the most benefit. It takes a significant amount of work, and each session is thorough, so take your time to digest it and it's important to build accountability around it to actually practice the homework, exercises, and tips provided. Lastly, repetition is key - you'll find yourself repeating sessions and revisiting earlier modules you went through to continually re-enforce the information as that will maximize skill development.
